Coupon 101: Seasons and Sale Cycles

Whenever I teach a seminar or do a round table- I always get the same question... How do you figure out the 12 week sale cycle? I've talked about it at some and forgotten to at others so I want to explain a trend now that will make it easier to project and plan what's coming up.

Have you noticed the sales and great items we are getting for next to nothing right now? Grilling and cookout items like condiments, hot dogs, paper products etc. This is the time and the prices are incredible when matched with a coupon to stock up for the entire summer! A1 steak sauce this week at just a dime is awesome and I've really stocked up since we use it year round. I checked the expiration date and it's good until like November 2010.

Other seasonal examples:

About mid July- Back to School items like supplies, fruit roll ups, fruit snacks, breakfast items, lunch items etc. go on sale. It runs even more so in August but we start school so early here in Georgia. I can't wait to highlight all the cheap school supplies at the Office Stores this summer!

Every October, the drugstores have great deals and cash back programs on cold and cough medicine. There aren't as many deals once the germ season begins so we always stock up so we are prepared and not running out at 11pm looking for a 24 hour drug or grocery store.

Right before Thanksgiving- baking items, aluminum serving pieces etc. start going on sale so I always stock up because once you get to the week of Thanksgiving- the sales on these items start getting really slim during the rest of the Holiday Season.

The 12 week sales cycle does stay close to the every 12 weeks but during these seasonal times- the deals increase and you definitely want to take advantage of them!
